What is Bentonite Clay?

Bentonite clay is a natural clay with a fine, soft texture. It becomes a soft smooth paste when mixed with water or any other liquid. You can use this paste for medicinal or cosmetic benefits. People have used bentonite clay to remove impurities on the skin, such as oils, and toxins from the body for thousands of years. It’s named after Fort Benton, Wyoming, USA where the largest source of the clay can be found, but calcium bentonite clay is found all over the world. It’s simply made of ash made from volcanos.

Bentonite clay stems back far in history as a traditional healing method for protecting the body from disease. It has been reported that several traditional cultures living in regions of the Andes, Central Africa and Australia have applied and consumed in numerous ways for centuries.

Because the clay is readily available and requires no modern processing, it has been a popular and cost-effective way of “detoxing” the body for quite some time.

How does Bentonite Clay work?

The clay is able to draw-out toxins from the body and has many nutrients. Bentonite clay is known to contain a long list of minerals, including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron and potassium. It benefits the body because it has the ability to produce a charge that is electrical in nature when it comes in contact with liquid — similar to how earthing (touching your bare feet to the earth, in particular wet grass) works.

When the clay touches any type of liquid, it takes on a different charge and is thought to bind to any present toxins within the fluid. If you ever use chia seeds in baking and combine them with any milk or water, you must have noticed their ability to swell and soak up the fluid that is around them, creating a gel-like consistency. Bentonite clay has a similar ability: It absorbs the liquids that is comes into contact with and expands to extract toxins from the liquid.

What can you do with the CBD & Bentonite Clay mask?

DIRECTIONS OF USE: Add a small amount of water or apple cider vinegar to approx. 10 grams of Clay powder. Mix it well (never use a metal spoon) until you have a smooth paste that is easy to apply to the face or area to be treated. Leave it to dry for 10-20 min and wash off with warm water. Apply moisturizer when the skin is dry. Use a maximum of 2 masks a week – more could have opposite effect.

Can CBD help Shingles?

CBD & BENTONITE CLAY TREATMENT FOR ACNE SKIN

Ingredients

• 2 tablespoons of Bentonite clay
• Water
• 1/4 teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar
• 3 drops tea tree essential oil

Directions

1. Mix the Bentonite clay with enough water to form a soft paste.

2. Add the organic apple cider vinegar and essential oil.

3. Apply to your face, neck, or where the acne is.

4. Leave on until the mask dries hard then rinse with lukewarm water.

5. Apply your usual moisturizing product or a CBD balm.

CBD AND BENTONITE CLAY MASK FOR DRY SKIN

Ingredients

• 2 tablespoons of Bentonite clay
• Water
• 1/4 teaspoon organic apple cider vinegar
• 1/2 teaspoon of castor oil. If you prefer a lighter type of oil, you can switch with sweet almond oil or jojoba oil
• 3 drops lavender essential oil

Directions

1. Mix the Bentonite clay with enough rosewater or distilled water to form a soft paste.

2. Add the organic apple cider vinegar, castor oil, sweet almond oil or jojoba oil and lavender essential oil.

3. Apply to your face or neck.

4. Leave on until the mask dries hard then rinse with lukewarm water.

5. Apply your usual moisturizing products.

CBD AND BENTONITE CLAY TREATMENT FOR PSORIASIS AND ECZEMA

Ingredients

• 2 tablespoons of Bentonite clay
• Water
• 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel
• 1 teaspoon calendula oil
• Rosewater or distilled water
• 3 drops tea tree oil or peppermint oil

Directions

1. Mix the Bentonite clay with water to form a soft paste.

2. Add the Aloe Vera gel, calendula oil and essential oil.

3. Mix again, you can add more Bentonite to form a soft paste like consistency, and apply in an even layer over your skin.

4. Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water and apply a CBD Balm or another moisturizer
